Jib Jam

On friday Queen's Urban Snowboard Club had their annual jam, and it went down in style. I braved the cold just long enough to hook up these 8 crappy pictures.

Life in Kingston

Life at University can be pretty boring some times. This is meant to provide a brief snapshot of what I do with my time.

This is my house. It is a little small, but is cozy, and I enjoy the company of my roommates. I feel our proximity to campus offsets the stature of the house.

I like to go out on photographic outings with other students. This picture was taken on such an outing, and it was VERY cold out there.

These are two of my roommates, and my roommates girlfriend's cat. We spend a bit too much time on that couch, but if we did not, I would hardly ever see them. Phil (right) was trying to get the cat to crawl under the blanket, while Justin was showing us the long forgotten technique of playing XBOX with a cat on your lap.

This is something that I don't do enough of (study, not eat gross cafeteria food) This room is actually the best study room I have ever been in during exam period. It's an empty classroom that we were studying in when I decided to snap this one. Sadly, I can't quite remember what I was studying for.

Out with Justin in Toronto

J & A Photography got together over the holidays to do some street shooting in Toronto. Here are a few of the pictures from that outing. We went out again later in the week, but I have no pictures from that, as I shot Justin's Lecia and he hasn't developed the film from it yet.

The first picture is from one of the medical building at U of T downtown campus. It is a relatively new building, and has several floors with plants growing on them. This bamboo forest was on the ground floor. They had full sized trees contained elsewhere in the building, but you needed security passes to get to them.

This is a pretty standard picture of the escalators in Sear's at the Eaton Center. I think it looks pretty cool and I like the reflection of the lights.

I have always liked the look of Vespas, and make an effort to shoot them whenever I have the chance. I think this curiosity ties back to one of my favourite teachers in highschool- Mr. Stevens, who often talked fondly of his.

The man himself!

Housecleaning part one

This section is going to be used to catalogue some of the pictures I took between my last flickr update and now. The first series was shot during homecoming 2007 at Queen's University, and the subject is my good friend James. The backstory was he wanted the best facebook picture ever, and I did my best to help him out with that. He currently uses the first picture in his profile.

blowing bubbles

I figured this was a good first picture because it sets the mood of what's going on in the room.  It's a cold winter day in Kingston, Ontario and we're bored as hell.  Bubbles are always fun... no?

A friend of mine once explained to me what an Einstein ring was.  This image is kind of what I imagined them to be.
One of the guys in the picture commented that the bubble looked a bit like a magic ball.  I can see why!

first post

Hi, My name is Andrew, and thanks for visiting my blog.  I really have no idea what to write about in a first post...

My interests include photography, music (although I don't play it), longboarding, philosophy and observed mountain bike trials.  The reason that I started this blog is I lost control of my flickr account during a computer switch, and haven't been able to revive it as of yet.  Taking this to be a sign (although I am not religious) I took it upon myself to start a new project where my pictures can be accompanied by words, as they often don't really make sense without a backstory.

I'll probably feel bad about this at a later date and update it..
